A Quickie from Jamie

Hi everybody-

I just wanted to say- I can't wait to see you soon! If I'm not seeing you on my whirlwind 2-week tour of the northeast, then you either don't live in the northeast or haven't had a baby recently and there's just nothing I can do about that.

I am flying into Newark on Tuesday, spending time with the family- taking Eli to Penn State, celebrating an early 30th with my family, visiting with our Goddaughter, shopping- then it's off to DC for a few days with the newest Fox/Dawson and his amazing parents- then it's up to NYC for some much-needed sun in Central Park and another early 30th with friends. (Yes, I know, I'm spoiled!) Then right back to London to ring in the start of the 2007 Showcase Season. I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

Anyway- remember to email John while I'm gone- he does get lonely.

The Tomato of 2007

In 1983, against which team did Ron Jaworski throw an 83-yard touchdown to Mike Quick on the first play of the game?

a) Baltimore Colts
b) Dallas Cowboys
c) Chicago Bears
d) St. Louis Cardinals

I do hereby declare that I have a green thumb. That or we have grown plants that are idiot proof. As evidence, I submit my first ever ripe tomato.

This is a proud day, especially as I have studied tomato growing at my father's knee. It's true. He would show me the tomato plants he hoped would later yield a big fat tomato that he could slice up, salt, and eat raw as a snack (I've seen this happen). More often than not the plants would decide not to fruit, causing disappointment at the snacking hour.

But on this proud day, the 5th of August 2007, here in London I have picked my first home grown tomato. Jamie and I then ceremoniously sliced, salted, and ate the tomato. I will be the first to admit that it was a light snack. But it was our snack, ethically grown and harvested.

Speaking of the EcoBandWagon train, we purchased an Eco-Pack of environmentally friendly cleaning supplies. Dish washer detergent & rinse aid, dish soap, washing machine tablets and powder, "bleach", spray cleaner, scratch free cleaner, and floor cleaner. I'll let you know how that goes.

Let's see - other happenings:

Flo & her parents visited for several days - it was a lovely visit.

Jamie and I joined the rest of the English speaking world and finally saw The Simpsons movie last night. Next on our list is the Transformers, which better be cool. I am personally holding out for the G.I. Joe live action feature film - you know somebody is working on that and a Rainbow Brite movie to tip this 80's nostalgia thing on its head. We also finished up Lost Season 2.

Summer has finally arrived - at least for the weekend. We met up with Steve Saturday and sat in the park and did nothing for a good solid 8 hours. I'm actually wearing shorts!

Also, a very special welcome to Henry Giles!

Trivia Answer:
b) The Cowboys. The Eagles lost that game 37-7.
